Big Lunch = Sleepy Afternoon

Hallelujah! Today's run was much better than yesterday and Monday. Still had a little bit of knee pain, but didn't feel sluggish or weighted down. And you know what? Somehow I clocked another "fastest mile", and Tiger Woods congratulated me- hollah! ( me *raising the roof*). My last fastest mile was 8:40, and now I'm down to 8:36- 8:00 mile, here I come. Overall I ran 4.14 miles in 40:02. So apparently the hydration worked. And I also had a banana with my cereal, which could have helped, too. And maybe even the bowtie pasta I had for dinner last night (who knows?). Moral of the story is, drink your water folks, if you want to run your fastest mile (or if you want to not feel like you're pulling a lead weight while you run).

Tomorrow I might get brave and go back to my regular 4-mile loop. But maybe I'll wait until I get new shoes. We'll see in the morning. I did one set of ab exercises this morning, but I somehow ran out of time, so I'll have to do another set tonight. I didn't do any strength training yesterday, so maybe I'll do that tonight, too. Or maybe just wait until tomorrow morning on my non-ab day.

Today is my sister's birthday. She's less than two years younger than me, and she's my only sibling that has kids. She even got married before me, and now she's 29. It sounds so weird that my sister is turning 29, and I'm still 30 (until Nov anyway). I went out to lunch to celebrate with her, along with my mom, my grandma, my nephew, and my next younger sister (who is 26). We went to Sizzler, and I had the salad bar. I indulged way too much, and I paid the price at work in the afternoon, being in a food coma and all. But anyway, it was fun to just hang out with the girls (well, and my "Bubby" who is 2).

I feel like I haven't seen my family in forever. Usually we have Sunday dinner at least once a month, and I talk to my mom on the phone at least once a week. But I haven't seen anyone since our last dinner, which was back on Aug 10, and I hadn't talked to my mom in over a week- so weird! She's been really busy working, and I've been preoccupied with enjoying my summer (and blogging), so I guess time kind of slipped by. I guess with all that happy emotion and celebrating going on, I just wasn't in my right mind to watch my food intake too closely. But strangely enough, I'm okay with it. It's very rare that I go out to lunch, so it's not like it happens all the time. So I'll chalk it up to a one-off special occasion, and make sure my lunch tomorrow is extra healthy. Dinner was kind of healthy- whole wheat waffles, turkey bacon, and sugar free syrup (the Hubs is doing a seminar tonight, so he won't be home until late- that means I can make breakfast for dinner, wahoo!).

Since I am feeling extra sleepy tonight, I must jet off to finish my ab workout before I fall asleep on the floor whilst doing crunches (pretty sad, right?). Oh, and I'm already down almost 2 pounds of my water-weight gain from last week! All the more reason to hydrate.

Miz., who is taking your HYDRATION reminder and running with it (uh, not literally) as she's all kinds of water retaining this morning.

Great mile - that's awesome!

You've got to celebrate and splurge once in a while - sounds like a fun time with the girls!

Good luck with the ab work (err, sleep - whatever it happens to be).

You are doing so great with your running times! And I am so jealous of you having sisters so close in age.

I love it that you used the word "whilst." That's SO something I would do.

8:36? Holy crap! lol... I'll be doing good to get down to a TWELVE minute mile! lol.... Someday, right?

Oh, to be 29 again. I'll hit the big 3-5 in January. (sigh) I will officially be in my mid-30s. But, I look and feel better than I did in my mid-20s, so that's saying something!

Btw, I haven't gotten the bracelet yet but I'm sure it will be in my mailbox waiting for me when I get home...which will be perfect for my run tonight! ; ) Thanks again.

I consciously chose not to run yesterday because I knew I was not hydrated or fueled enough because it was just 'one of those days'. I read your post and am now going to refill my water bottle so I'm ready for this evening's workout!

I too needed the water reminder. I have hardly had any all week!!

I am glad the run was a little easier. Hopefully that knee will be back to 100% soon. I think new kicks might be the trick you need. My water fell low this week tryin got make up for it now before race time.

Miz- Yes, it's true, we are spring chickens.

Lance- Thanks. I did finish the ab work and get sleep- the best of both worlds!

Robin- About the sisters, yes, I am very blessed. But when I was younger I felt like I was cursed. We fought a lot, and it's a miracle we get along so well now.

Melanie- Thanks for stopping by. Isn't it such a great word? I have to throw it out there every now and then. BTW, you've got a nice blog! Hooray for Football Time.

Marcie- Someday, yes, and probably sooner than you think! It's all a state of mind. I look (and feel) way better than I did when I was 21/22, so I'm happy to be 30. Plus, I'm a lot wiser.

Nicole- That's awesome! I'm jealous. Paula must be a more recent addition to the Nike+, because I only have Tiger, Lance and Joan Benoit-Samuelson. Good luck with your PR!!

Tammy- Don't think ugh! It will be great. Wahoo for Nov birthdays!

Cyndi- Good for you (amazing what a difference it makes).

ThickChick- Ooh, better get going on that water. You'll feel so much better.

Viv- Thanks. Yes, new kicks will be sublime. Lots of water before your race (well not right before, because then you'll be like me doing the pee pee dance, but you know what I mean.)
